Desire Lines
In city parks, planners lay out paved sidewalks. Across open landscapes, pathways are prescribed through fields and meadows. Yet in both, you see the paths worn through grass where people actually walk – shortcuts and detours, shaped by footsteps, that reveal where people truly want to go.
These are Desire Lines.
They are honest. They are human. They emerge from footsteps, not from blueprints.
Why this name?
The public essays on this site are the paved paths – considered, edited, meant for everyone. But alongside them, I walk my own desire lines: unpolished thoughts, behind-the-scenes glimpses, personal letters written before ideas become results.
These are reserved for my Travel Mates – those who journey alongside me, who want the living route rather than the prescribed one.
